Horse Across The Plains

     Hi, I'm at the cafe.  I just wrote some fiction.  That was fun.  I don't know if it is any good, though.  I just read some pages from the original Robert E. Howard 'Conan' stories, and they are written much better than what I can do.  He has a better vocabulary and writing style.  His stories are crafted, mine are just whatever.
     In any case, Howard shot himself in the head, and I'm still alive.  His estate must be doing well, though, what with 'Age of Conan Online' and various movies that have been made.  I'm sure the estate receives royalties.  I'm also sure some lawyer is laughing all the way to the bank, lucky bastard to be able to handle that estate.   ( Nirvana's estate would be an even better one to handle ).  Anyway, you know what I mean.
     So, I'm alive, and I don't have much going on in my life to sustain myself.  That is a problem.  I'm starting to look into things like comic books and animation, so I can get into something where I might be able to survive.  It's either that, or being some kind of street sweeper or something.
     To be honest, I don't make much of a good laborer.  Manual work sucks.  I am much better at creative ventures.  I'm more suited to that work.
     Artists don't really have an easy time of it unless you are famous.  Most people can't even count on their hand five famous artists that are alive today.  They can rattle off twenty names of actors in a heartbeat, though.
     The problem with acting, though, is, in order to be a famous actor, you have to become an even bigger celebrity.  Then, it all becomes about this 'other fictional identity' that is apart from what you do as an actor.
     You can't buy class, though.  Someone like Christopher Lee isn't phased by fame or fortune at all.  He just likes to act, and to lend his talents for various projects.
     I am glad Christopher Lee will reprise his role as Saruman in 'The Hobbit'.  I can't wait to see that.
     I read the wikipedia article on Christopher Lee yesterday, and that was fascinating.  Look it up, and read it.
     One time, Christopher Lee did some acting in a movie, and since the scenes were shot separately, he did not know he was in a soft-porn movie. 
     I guess that kind of stuff could happen in the free-wheeling late sixties and early seventies.

     Anyways,...life is good, and I just want to live. 
     BUT HOW?

     I don't have an answer for that today.

     That is pretty sad.

     Well, at least 'Conan the Barbarian' will live forever.  I wish I could.

     Anyway, it isn't all that bad.
     It sucks being a hack, though.  I guess I'm going to have to work on that.  It all takes time is the problem.
