Likes and Dislikes

     I don't care about likes and dislikes.  That only refers to personal preferences, which no one cares about anyhow.
     People do care about that Oprah Winfrey was a teen-age whore.  That was in the tabloids.  Terrible thing to write about anybody.  I saw that on the front page of a tabloid.  My first thought was, "I didn't need to see that".

     As a 43 year old adult male, I see the tabloids as part of the entertainment industry.  They help keep the stars of Hollywood in the public eye, so in a way, it is advertising for people in show business.  The tabloids help to get people to read about actors, which eventually helps to sell tickets to movies, and to sell dvds.

     The celebrity at that point becomes at least three people.  The character they play in the movie, the version of themselves that appears in interviews and on talk shows, and the private person, who most likely just wants to be left the hell alone.

     It must be hell to be a celebrity, but it sounds a lot better than being poor and unwanted.
